19TH CENTURY NEON

If I had to choose a favourite phase in history, for art it would be the late 18th century. For me, that has been the peak in terms of technical prowess combined with intimate introspection, a deep fascination for the complex emotional realms of humankind and the capacity to portray it.

What activated my interest for these compositions, was the curiosity to see how neon-wave elements would blend in a 19th century composite landscape view. The results are very satisfying for me, especially regarding the brush strokes and the colour palette. There is a strong ominous element, but the compositions do not lose their grace. I feel this is how the world might end. Enjoy it while it lasts, and as it terminates.
